The NAJAS/KKC Business Speaker Series was held in Honolulu, Hawaii on May 8, 2018 in cooperation with the Japan-America Society of Hawaii. Mr. Koji Nagashima, Executive Vice President of Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance was invited as a speaker.

Mr. Nagashima explained a brief history of MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings, Inc. and DTRIC Insurance, Ltd., their subsidiary in Hawaii. He went on to explain that Aioi Nissay Dowa views Hawaii and DTRIC as a very important market due to the business DTRIC does with individuals and local corporations. Aioi Nissay Dowa is heavily invested in developing technology around Telematics and Mobility and they see Hawaii as an ideal place for pilot projects. Telematics insurance involves an on-board device to gather data such as mileage and driving behavioral information, using this data to provide insurance services.

Mr. Nagashima amazed the audience with the current status on where Aioi Nissay Dowa is at with Telematics technology. He concluded his presentation by speaking to Aioi Nissay Dowa’s “community-based” action policy-their belief in being present in and building strong relationships in every community they do business in. Because of DTRIC’s positive image in the local Hawaii community coupled with their strong sense of giving back to the community they serve, Mr. Nagashima feels that Aioi Nissay Dowa and DTRIC are a perfect match.
