Invitation Program for U.S. Experts on Public Policy and Domestic Politics

April 3-6, 2017

Mr. Justin McCarthy, Senior Advisor at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP and Former Special Assistant to the President (GW Bush), Mr. Jonathan Berkshire Miller, International Affairs Fellow of the Council on Foreign Relations and Ms. Ilia Rodriguez, Senior Vice President & Public Policy Advisor of The Daschle Group and former Vice President of The Center for American Progress (CAP) participated in the Keizai Koho Center’s invitation program. They visited Ajinomoto, Kajima, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Mitsui Fudosan, Mizuho Research Institute and Sumitomo Corporation to learn about business strategies and U.S.-Japan economic relations. The three experts also met government officials and lawmakers to exchange views on U.S.-Japan relations under the Trump Administration and security situations in East Asia.

On the final day of the program, they participated as panelists in the symposium “The Trump Administration and U.S.-Japan Relations”, held at Keidanren Kaikan, Tokyo.
