Keizai Koho Center (KKC) hosted a reception for correspondents of Chinese media and representatives of Japanese corporations. This reception, which has been held annually since 2005, was postponed during the COVID-19 pandemic but recommenced in 2022. The event provides a valuable opportunity for member companies and organizations with a chance to interact and exchange views with Chinese media.

From the Japanese side, 31 participants from 20 member companies and organizations, consisting of representatives of the China business divisions and public relations attended. As for the Chinese side, there were 45 participants, namely bureau chiefs, correspondents, and reporters from 24 major media organizations such as China Media Group (CMG), Xinhua News Agency, The Duan Press, Goodwill Pictures, Trip7, Asia News Agency, ASIA-PACIFIC TOURISM, People’s Daily, and the Japan-China Business News. The total attendance exceeded 70 people.

Mr. Ryo Watanabe, Senior Managing Director of Keizai Koho Center, made an opening remark. He mentioned the Japan-China Summit Meeting held in Peru in November 2024, at which Japan and China confirmed their commitment to promote a mutually beneficial relationship based on common strategic interests and the building of constructive and stable Japan-China relations. Following the agreement by the two countries to reopen visa-free travel for Japanese nationals visiting China, there is an expectation of an increase in Japanese tourism and business travel. In this situation, Mr. Watanabe shared his hopes for a new development in Japan-China relations, and emphasized the significance of holding the reception annually.

After the opening remark, the participants from Japan and China engaged in a lively exchange and enjoyed chatting with another. Participants stressed the significance of in-person exchanges and expressed their intentions to make use of the connections made at this event to further develop Japan-China relations.
