Professor Paul A. Argenti, a pioneer in the field of corporate communication, spoke on the above topic to corporate communications representatives of KKC’s member companies. He explained that according to the Edelman Trust Barometer, 54% globally believe that CEOs should speak publicly on controversial political and social issues they care about. He then introduced the 3-question framework to determine when to speak out, sharing good and bad examples of international companies.
Professor Argenti is is one of the world’s most well-known and appreciated academics in the field of corporate communication, teaching some of the earliest courses on the subject for Harvard Business School, Columbia Business School, and the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. He wrote Corporate Communication, the first textbook in the field now in its eighth edition, along with Corporate Responsibility, Digital Strategies for Powerful Corporate Communication, The Power of Corporate Communication, and many other books and articles.
