Professor Chen Zilei of Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, gave a presentation on the “Current Economic Situation of Shanghai and its Growth Strategy.” Prof. Chen stated that Shanghai should not rely on the export–led growth by foreign manufacturers and noted the necessity of upgrading the industrial structure by strengthening the service Sector. He added that the Shanghai Free Trade Area established in 2013 is expected to play a role in driving China’s overall service industry promotion. He also introduced China’s plan to build a free trade port in Shanghai.
